Tori was beginning to wonder if Mr. Gao was a mass hallucination on their part.

Except he couldn’t be. The Huan Xiang Zhou was real enough, from its moldy corridors to its ever-present signage in language that Tori only partially understood.

She wondered if she would understand more if she were walking the halls instead of peering at footage from Gabe’s and Brian’s in-suit cameras.

The feed wobbled, and (Brian’s especially) swung wildly from time to time.

She wondered if this was normal action for them, or if somehow the boys were already being affected by their dropping oxygen levels. Nobody had reached the danger threshold yet, but they would in about twenty minutes if current trends held.
