Tori knew it was unreasonable to be annoyed by Lu’s amazing organization, particularly when that forethought helped Tori out of her predicament.

Still, she couldn’t help it.

Lu not only had a clean handkerchief, she also had spare, unused compostable supplies, and an unused cup—all of which she routinely carried everywhere, even on a day—like the day of the accident—when she’d had no indication that her cycle might be starting.

It helped a little to learn that Lu and her sister both had totally unpredictable cycles, and their parents didn’t believe in starting chemical interventions too early. That was what had made Lu take to being prepared for anything, anytime.

Still, comparing herself to Lu’s perfection left Tori feeling inadequate. Stupid, even.
