just that I'm so tired and all that food and wine, that had to be it. I closed my eyes and I could see the room in such detail. As I slowly worked my way around the room in my memory, I stopped on my hand on the clock. There had been a blue velvet sleeve on my arm and an emerald ring on my finger. The stone was huge. There hadn't been any nail polish on my nails either.

     I looked at my hand. No ring and my nails were painted a deep chocolate color. “I'm too tired to think about this now,” I whispered to myself. I fell into a fitful sleep, which was interrupted each time the clock struck the hour. Each time it chimed, I had to get up to make sure the room had not transformed again.
