“I don't smoke,” Alice said.

   Dr. Weitz and Nurse Lozano left the room, and Alice got her clothes and put them on.  Once again, she sat on the exam table quietly, staring at the medical drawing on the wall.

   Once again, a soft knock came at the door, and Dr. Weitz entered the room.

   “Miss Shea,” he began, “I'm going to have some blood drawn and take a Urine sample.  We'll do a pregnancy test.”

   “Okay,” Alice said. 

   “Pardon me if my questions seem indelicate,” Dr. Weitz began. “You aren't married?”
   “No, I'm engaged,” she said. “We're gonna get married in May.”
