unretrievable: time slips from grasp

only ever a fraction of a moment it lasts

from the reflection in the shadows cast

always a scattered memory lost to the past.

there is no holding onto the present.

even in a photograph, the soul of the exact moment

is guaranteed to be one of the things absent

no matter the depth of the heart invested

despite the connection to the event

or the seconds spent

time simply cannot be preserved.

that’s the translucent beauty

of inevitability

the dangling from the fragility

of the human condition eternally

dreaming that there will be no end to the ride

living hard to burnout the brightest light

these moments are all that’s given
