Was walking through shallow waters when the earth gave way

Way down she went and she stayed there

Little fish

Nibbling the debris off

Then a mermaid swirled an arm around the back of her neck

Water rushed through her ears

Taught her how to breathe

(If you would call it that— I mean breathing is essentially taking in air and, it wasn’t that)

Either way

She decided to stay there

They even had a parade
